Overview

PrimeSource Building Products, Inc., one of the fastest growing wholesale building material distributors in the country, is seeking an experienced Sales Manager in our Portland Distribution Center.

Responsibilities

Directly supervises 5-10 employees in the Sales Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, motivating/coaching.

 

  • Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.
  • Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates.
  • Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales program.
  • Directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
  • Advises dealers, distributors, and clients concerning sales and advertising techniques.
  • Assigns sales territory to sales representatives. Regularly travels with outside sales personnel to assist in developing new business as well as relationships with customers and to improve sales performance effectiveness.
  • Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and assist dealers in promoting sales.
  • Prepares and performs weekly, monthly and annual employee reviews.
  • Directs product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from sales line.
  • Represents Company at trade association meetings or events to promote product.
  • Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales representatives.
  • Meets with key clients, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales related units. Keep the Distribution Center informed of local market and competitive conditions.
  • Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Assists other departments within organization to prepare manuals and technical publications.
  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and /or deficits and areas of proposed client base expansion.
  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
  • Responsible for creating DC specific promotional offerings.
  • Strong understanding of DC inventory positions, both performing and underperforming.
  • Responsible for creating, presenting and maintaining independent rebate programs.
  • Responsible for uncovering new product opportunities and providing the market research on the product.
  • Travels-Regularly travels with outside sales attend Trade Association meetings and meet with customers/clients.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have 3-5 years experience and possess demonstrated skills in selling, teaching & managing a sales staff. Knowledge of the building materials industry is a major plus.
