Territory Service Representative-Santa Fe Springs, CA (2017-5128)

 

PrimeSource Building Products, Inc., one of the nation's largest wholesale distributors of building supply products, has an immediate opportunity for a Territory Service Representative to support our Santa Fe Springs, CA area. 

 

This is NOT a Sales position. 

 

You will be conducting merchandising duties between 50% to 80% of the time.  However, you will also support the Territory Manager is servicing the complete product mix with our Independents where you will interact with owners and Operations Leadership to write orders for the customers in the territory, in which you are assigned. 

 

You will drive from Store to Store and be provided with a list of your customers for the day and stock product, clean display cases, and write orders, as needed.

 

Hourly base salary AND you will be provided a Runzheimer GPS device and reimbursed for your daily travel on a monthly basis.

Responsibilities

The Territory Service Representative will work closely with Sales Manager and established Outside Sales Reps to provide support to existing business and promote end user purchases of products.  Receive, store, and issue sales floor merchandise.  Stock shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with merchandise and arrange merchandise displays to attract customers.  May periodically take physical count of stock or check and mark merchandise.  

 

  • Stocks shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with new or transferred merchandise, 50% to 80% depending on the need.
  • Cleans display cases, shelves, and aisles of discarded packaging material.
  • Ensures product is in stock and available for customers to purchase and will work with entire product mix.
  • Will write orders and service the assigned territories, which could take several hours (per customer)
  • Has full product knowledge of the line carried by each store.
  • Makes product suggestions to manager and evaluate product mix.
  • Tracks stock levels at customer location.
  • Assists Territory Managers in maintaining relationships with purchasing contacts, customer ownership and other critical personnel.
  • May occasionally attend contractor events, open houses, and conduct product knowledge seminars. 
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

  • Demonstrate exposure to building materials, construction industry
  • Very good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to present oneself well with individuals at all levels

Qualifications

  • Requirements: 

    • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and use personal vehicle throughout assigned territory to service stores. Vehicle, insurance and must be in compliance to receive full car allowance reimbursement program.
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
    • Must be able to work safely in a retail construction environment.
    • Must have strong customer service skills.

    Education & Experience:

    • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
    • Required: Two or four year college degree preferred for advancement.
    • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Exceptional interpersonal communications through voice and email.
    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

    Pluses:

    • Have working knowledge of and /or experience using basic hand tools.
    • Have knowledge of and/or experience working with building materials, lumber, and fasteners.
    • Have previous work experience in a home improvement retailer or other big box retailer type environment.
