    Import Logistics Specialist - Dallas, Ft Worth TX (2018-12014)


    We are looking for an immediate need for an Import Logistics Specialist in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  We’re looking for an organized, highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills. The Import Specialist position is responsible for the daily import operations of assigned accounts and providing exceptional customer service and communication to our clients.


    Flexible start times from 7AM to 9AM, depending on the need.

    This individual will handle all aspects of importations of purchase orders.  


    Responsibilities include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.

    • Handle Vendor Documentation.
    • Manage a shipment from Sailing to Delivery
    • Track and trace containers.
    • Enter, process, and maintain U.S. Customs entry.
    • Process Ocean Freight payments, accessorial and Exam charges.
    • Works with distribution centers to coordinate delivery.
    • Works with truckers, exam sites, piers, to rectify any problems.
    • Direct communication with distribution centers personnel.
    • Direct communication with U.S. Government agencies and employees.
    • Manage emails, phone calls, and faxes on a daily basis.
    • Meets all established company deadlines and procedures.

    International transportation

    • Prepare file for customs entry and File with Customs
    • Verify arrival, departure, and US Customs clearance status of shipments
    • Follow for release of freight at the port and monitor last free day
    • Coordinate with Truckers, ensure freight is delivered as expected
    • Organize and input into SAP shipment information and status

    Customs Compliance

    • Manage, collaborate and audit outside Customs brokers
    • Ensure all product that will be imported has proper classifications and documentation
    • Work upstream with supply chain planning teams on customs compliance matters
    • Research foreign import/export regulations as it relates to company's import/export activities

    Continuous improvement

    • Audit import logistics and customs brokerage invoices
    • Analyze and gather data from shipments, facilities, brokers, vendors, and compliance, to develop and manage reports
    • Identify issues and areas of improvements
    • Establish root cause and drive process changes
    • Data processing with high level of accuracy
    • Ability to communicate professionally
    • Desire to work in a team atmosphere
    • Willingness to learn, adapt, and problem solve.
    • Provide excellent customer service with courteous interactions
    • Follows company's policies and procedures
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors




    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training.  4 year degree, preferred.


    Computer Skills:


    To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to operate in; Internet software; Inventory software; Import databases, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. SAP knowledge a plus.

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Intermediate Excel skills required. Access, Photoshop.  


    Other Requirements:


    Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.


    Qualified candidates must be self-motivated, have the ability to multi-task and be willing to work as part of a team. Requires professional and confident telephone skills as well as proficient computer skills ideal candidate would have some knowledge of the building material industry.
