    Purchasing Associate - (2018-11871) - Aberdeen, MD

     

    PrimeSource Building Products, Inc. one of the nation’s largest wholesale distributors of building supply products, has an immediate opportunity available for an experienced, reliable, and hard working Purchasing Associate located in our Aberdeen, MD distribution center. 

      

    Full-time 40/hr week PLUS complete benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life, 401K with company match), Holiday pay and PTO 

     

    Monday-Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM, 1 hour lunch

     

     

    The Purchasing Associate will purchase materials and service for PrimeSource in an efficient and economical manner following established policies and procedures in processing purchase orders. Create purchase orders and input data in SAP. Research and evaluate supplies based on price, quality, selection, services, support, availability, production and distribution capabilities and supplier’s reputation and history. This role will work with the Sales Team and Sales Vendor for special orders. Will assume some administrative duties in creating BOLs for LTL and assist with inventory cycle counts. Compiles information and records to prepare and process purchase orders for procurement of material by performing the following duties. MUST have basic Excel skills.

    Responsibilities

    Some responsibilities include the following. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

    • Verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests.
    • Searches inventory records or warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity and maintains MOH levels to expectations by FLC.
    • Consults catalogs and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.
    • Responsible for reviewing and addressing dead stock items & slow moving inventory.
    • Writes or types purchase order and sends copy to supplier and department originating request.
    • Compiles records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, deliveries, and inventories.
    • Computes total cost of items purchased.
    • Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries.
    • Verifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and approves bills for payment.
    • Classifies priority regulations.
    • Communicates effectively with sales department during periods of product shortage or delay.
    • Maintains and reviews company fill rate goals for Independent, Major and National account customers.
    • Potentially responsible for assisting management with the DC product claim process.
    • Potentially responsible for assisting management with the DC cycle count process.
    • Knowledgeable of DC discount schedules and accountable to accuracy of inbound pricing.
    • Filling
    • Accurately enters and places purchase orders in a timely manner.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    High School Diploma or G.E.D education. One year certificate from college or technical school; or up to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. SAP preferred. Must have basic MS Excel skills.
