    PrimeSource Building Products, Inc. one of the nation’s largest wholesale distributors of building supply products, has an immediate opportunity available for an experienced, reliable, and hard working Purchasing Agent in Florence, KY located about 25 minutes from Cincinnati, OH. 


    Full-time 40/hr week PLUS complete benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life, 401K with company match), Holiday pay and PTO 


    Monday-Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM, 1 hour lunch


    The Purchasing Agent will purchase materials and service for PrimeSource in an efficient and economical manner following established policies and procedures in processing purchase orders. Analyze data, research and evaluate supplies based on price, quality, selection, services, support, availability, production and distribution capabilities and supplier’s reputation and history. Create purchase orders, schedule deliveries with vendors and own Vendor Return process. This role will work directly with the Operations and Sales Team.




    Compiles information and records to prepare and process purchase orders for procurement of material by performing the following duties. 

    • Verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests. 
    • Searches inventory records or warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity.
    • Consults catalogs and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.
    • Types or writes invitation of bid forms and mails forms to supplier firms or for public posting.
    • Writes or types purchase order and sends copy to supplier and department originating request.
    • Compiles records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, deliveries, and inventories.
    • Computes total cost of items purchased.
    • Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries. 
    • Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates and awards contract to bidders or places orders with suppliers or mail order firms. 
    • Verifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and approves bills for payment.
    • Classifies priority regulations.
    • Negotiates with vendors for the purpose of resolving purchasing issues.
    • Monitors/Coordinates all returns.
    • Supports special pricing quotes for the sales groups. Will work directly with Sales Staff.
    • Asks vendors for promotional prices and incentives.
    • Keeps abreast of changes affecting both the supply of and demand for, needed products and materials.
    • Negotiates cash discounts, volume purchasing discounts and pricing, etc.
    • Makes certain that purchasing documents are completed properly and the terms and conditions of purchase are appropriate.
    • Keeps accurate records, including price histories and any problems during business with particular vendors.
    • Crafts negotiation strategies and closes deals with optimal terms.
    • And other duties as needed or assigned.



    High school diploma or G.E.D. required with some experience.

    Associates degree (A.A) or Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from four-year College or University is preferred.


    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. SAP knowledge helpful. Must have proficiency in MS Excel to perform basic formulas and sort data.



    Ability to maintain total confidentiality. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with all levels of personnel. Excellent customer service. Our employees are our customers.
